If you’re dreaming of settling in a welcoming Canadian town and gaining permanent residence through work, Claresholm, Alberta might be your next big opportunity. This charming rural community, located just south of Calgary, is part of Canada’s Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) and has just updated its list of designated employers for 2025.

Let’s take a closer look at what this means, who’s hiring, and how you can take the next step toward making Claresholm your new home.

Key Highlights

  • Claresholm is actively participating in the Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP) with a 25 km boundary that includes Granum and Stavely.
  • To qualify for PR under the RCIP, applicants must secure a job offer from a designated employer in Claresholm.
  • Only a few employers are currently hiring through the program – including Structural Precast, CFI Flight Academy, and Tim Hortons.
  • Not-hiring employers are supporting existing temporary foreign workers, so new applicants should not reach out to them directly.
  • Applicants must meet RCIP criteria including work experience, language skills, education, and funds to settle.
  • Claresholm has 30 RCIP spots for 2025, releasing four each month to manage demand.

What Is the RCIP and Why Claresholm?

The Rural Community Immigration Pilot is a federal initiative designed to help smaller Canadian communities attract and retain foreign workers. It gives eligible candidates a pathway to permanent residence (PR) through local employment.

Claresholm’s participation is great news for newcomers looking to build a life in a close-knit, community-focused town. With its location just over an hour from Calgary, it offers the perfect blend of rural charm and access to urban amenities.

Designated RCIP Employers in Claresholm (2025)

To apply for PR under the RCIP, you’ll need a job offer from an employer approved by the Claresholm Economic Development Committee (EDC). Here’s the current list of designated employers and their hiring status:

Employer Sector Status
Structural Precast Manufacturing and Utilities Hiring
CFI Flight Academy Education and Law Hiring
Tim Hortons Sales and Services Hiring
El Molino Manufacturing and Utilities Not Hiring
A&W Sales and Services Not Hiring
Casa Roma Sales and Services Not Hiring
Antree Sales and Services Not Hiring
Roy’s Place Sales and Services Not Hiring

Important Note: Employers labelled “Not Hiring” are not accepting new applications. They are using the RCIP to support PR applications for their current temporary foreign workers. So, if you’re just starting your job search, focus only on those listed as “Hiring.”

Where to Find RCIP Job Postings

All hiring positions under the RCIP must be posted on the Canada Job Bank. If you’re looking to apply, make sure to check the Job Bank regularly and cross-reference postings with Claresholm’s designated employer list.

The community updates this list periodically, so it’s worth keeping an eye on it if you’re planning to apply later in the year.

RCIP Spots and Application Timeline

Claresholm has been allocated 30 RCIP spots for 2025. To ensure fair access and manage demand, only four spots will be released each month. Any unused spots will roll over to the following months, so there’s still a chance even if you miss out early in the year.

Eligibility Requirements for the RCIP in Claresholm

Having a job offer from a designated employer is just one part of the puzzle. To qualify under the RCIP, candidates must also meet the following requirements:

  • Work in a priority occupation as set by Claresholm’s RCIP guidelines
  • Relevant work experience in the job being offered
  • Language proficiency in English or French
  • Education credentials equivalent to the position offered
  • Settlement funds to support yourself and any family members

Once you’ve confirmed eligibility, you’ll work with your employer to prepare an application package. The employer then submits this to the Claresholm Economic Development Committee (EDC) for approval.

If the EDC gives the green light, you can apply directly to the federal government for permanent residence. You may also qualify for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)-exempt work permit while your PR application is being processed – meaning you can start working sooner.
