What You’ll Be Doing
As a Long-Haul Truck Driver with GTL Transportation, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Planning the most efficient routes using GPS and navigation tools to reduce fuel use and emissions
- Driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials across Canada and into the U.S.
- Conducting thorough vehicle inspections before, during, and after trips to ensure safety
- Loading and unloading cargo, tarping loads, and securing freight to prevent damage
- Keeping detailed records of trips including hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption
- Communicating with central dispatch to receive updates and relay trip information
This job involves travelling long distances and working in various locations, so flexibility and stamina are key. You’ll often be on the road overnight and for extended stretches, so being comfortable with solo travel is essential.
What You’ll Need to Qualify
GTL is looking for dependable, safety-conscious drivers with a solid work ethic. Here’s what you’ll need to be considered for the role:
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar trucking role
- Valid Class 1 or AZ Licence (for semi-trailer trucks)
