Your Role as a Dairy Herdsperson
As a Dairy Herdsperson, you’ll be responsible for the daily care and health of a dairy herd, working closely with veterinarians, nutritionists, and the rest of the farm team to ensure high-quality milk production and top-notch animal welfare. This is a hands-on job that requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a genuine love for working with animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating milking equipment and ensuring high standards of milk quality and safety
- Feeding, grooming, and monitoring the overall health of cattle
- Cleaning barns, pens, and milking parlours to maintain hygiene and prevent disease
- Working with vets for herd health management, including vaccinations and treatments
- Assisting in breeding programs, including artificial insemination and synchronization
- Maintaining accurate logs and records of farm operations
