Why This Job Matters

Long-haul truck drivers are the backbone of Canada’s transportation system, keeping goods moving safely and efficiently across our vast country. At AHS Transport, drivers are more than just employees — they’re valued team members with a critical role in our success. Whether you’re an experienced operator or new to the industry and looking to gain your footing, this role combines challenge, freedom, and stability.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a long-haul truck driver with AHS Transport, you’ll take on a wide variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of cargo. Here’s what your day-to-day might include:

  • Planning your routes using GPS and navigation tools to reduce fuel consumption and minimize emissions
  • Driving solo or as part of a team or convoy depending on the route and cargo
  • Loading, securing, and unloading shipments — including handling tarps and safety gear
  • Operating tractor-trailers or flatbed trucks to deliver goods across long distances
  • Conducting full vehicle inspections before, during, and after trips — this includes brakes, tires, lights, and cold storage units
  • Maintaining detailed logs of cargo details, hours driven, fuel usage, and distances covered
  • Performing basic preventive maintenance and addressing minor vehicle issues as needed
  • Safely transporting hazardous or dangerous goods in compliance with safety regulations

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for reliable, self-motivated individuals who take pride in their work and value being part of a team. While experience is helpful, it’s not required — we provide training to the right candidates. Here’s what we’d like you to bring to the table:

  • Comfortable speaking and reading in English
  • Completion of secondary (high) school
  • Air Brakes Endorsement Certification
  • Valid Class 1 or Class A driver’s licence
  • Strong organization skills and a detail-oriented mindset
  • Team-player attitude with a willingness to work hard and adapt
  • Patience and professionalism while on the road and at delivery points

Experience & Equipment

If you’ve worked with flatbeds or tractor-trailers before, that’s a huge plus. You’ll also be using modern equipment including GPS systems and navigation software to ensure efficient routing and delivery.

Security, Safety & Travel Requirements

Because transporting goods across provincial and sometimes international borders involves trust and safety, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid Canadian passport
  • Criminal background check, drug test, and medical exam clearance
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean record

Physically, you should be able to manage manual tasks like loading, unloading, and securing cargo. Attention to detail is crucial — both for safety and for compliance with transportation regulations.

Work Environment

This is a physically active role that requires long hours on the road, sometimes in varying weather conditions. But for those who love an ever-changing view and the independence of highway driving, it’s incredibly rewarding. Plus, joining a company like AHS Transport means being part of a stable, growing organization that values its team.

Why Join AHS Transport?

AHS Transport is a well-established transportation company based in Saskatoon. We’re proud to support our team members with dependable work schedules, competitive compensation, and a respectful, inclusive work environment.
