What You’ll Be Doing on the Road
As a long-haul truck driver with DPG Transport, your role will go beyond just getting from A to B. You’ll be a key part of a logistics team that keeps goods moving across Canada and beyond. Here’s what your day-to-day could look like:
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods over long distances
- Travel as part of a team or convoy, ensuring safe and efficient delivery
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicle systems and equipment
- Handle documentation such as driver logs, cargo records, and inspection reports
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch to stay aligned with delivery plans
- Handle emergency roadside repairs and preventive maintenance when necessary
- Ensure cargo safety, including tarping and securing loads properly
- Maintain professionalism and excellent customer service during all interactions
What You Need to Qualify
This isn’t an entry-level role, so you’ll need a few key things under your belt to be considered:
- Language: Fluent in English—both spoken and written
- Education: Secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years in a similar long-haul trucking role
- Licensing: AZ Class Licence, Air Brakes Endorsement, and a valid Class 1 or A driver’s licence
- Physical ability: Comfortable lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and sitting for long periods
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a team-first attitude
