About the Role
As a Patient Service Attendant, you’ll be playing a key role in the day-to-day care and comfort of patients. Your work will directly impact the well-being of those in your care, from helping with personal hygiene to supporting mobility and recreation. It’s a hands-on position that requires patience, empathy, and a real passion for helping others.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting patients with daily personal care—bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Escorting patients to outdoor and recreational activities
- Serving meals, feeding patients, and handling meal tray setup
- Supporting mobility by lifting, turning, and repositioning patients safely
- Transporting patients using wheelchairs or stretchers
- Maintaining clean and comfortable patient rooms and making beds
- Answering call signals and responding to patient needs promptly
- Providing companionship and emotional support in a respectful, dignified manner
Who They’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can juggle multiple tasks while providing exceptional care. You should be comfortable with physical tasks and emotionally resilient when supporting patients in need.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Comfortable lifting up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
- Training is provided—no previous healthcare experience required!
Work Environment
- Based in Sioux Lookout, a vibrant rural community in Northwestern Ontario
- Work settings include hospitals, clinics, elder care homes, and rehabilitation centres
- Expect a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, early mornings
- Willingness to relocate is a plus, especially for those seeking a fresh start in a welcoming town

This is a physically demanding role, and safety is always a top priority. Applicants should be prepared for the following:
Security & Health Screening
- Criminal background check (including vulnerable sector)
- Proof of immunization and TB test required
Physical Demands
