Alberta Issues 1,167 Invitations Across Six AAIP Draws in July
Alberta conducted six immigration draws between July 3 and July 15, 2026, issuing a combined 1,167 invitations through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). The majority of invitations were issued under the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

On July 15, Alberta issued 833 invitations through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, with a minimum selection score of 53. This draw represented the largest single round during the two-week period.
Healthcare-focused draws also featured prominently. On July 14, 51 invitations were issued through the Dedicated Health Care Pathway (non-Express Entry) with a cutoff score of 52.
Earlier in the month, on July 3, a separate healthcare draw aligned with Express Entry invited 92 candidates at a minimum score of 55. This was the largest healthcare-focused Express Entry selection by Alberta in 2026 to date.
Technology and enforcement-related pathways accounted for additional invitations. On July 8, 149 candidates were selected under the Accelerated Tech Pathway with a score threshold of 55.
A smaller draw held on July 10 targeted law enforcement occupations, issuing fewer than 10 invitations with a minimum score of 52.
Rural settlement remained part of the province’s strategy. On July 7, the Rural Renewal Stream issued 42 invitations, with a minimum required score of 55.

Patterns in Alberta’s 2026 Immigration Selections
The distribution of invitations across July draws highlights a continued emphasis on the Alberta Opportunity Stream. This stream accounted for the majority of invitations during the period.
Across all six draws, minimum selection scores remained tightly grouped between 52 and 55. This narrow range indicates relatively consistent selection thresholds across different streams and occupational categories.

The Law Enforcement Pathway has a limited allocation of 38 spaces, with fewer than 10 nominations reported as issued so far.
Additional Nomination Measures Outside Core Allocation
In addition to its main allocation, Alberta has used separate nomination spaces for specific categories. These include 50 practice-ready physicians and 12 francophone candidates.
These additional nominations fall outside the general Provincial Nominee Program limits and are aligned with federal and provincial initiatives to address workforce needs and support linguistic diversity.
Application Inventory and Candidate Pool
As of July 15, Alberta reported a total of 36,760 Worker Expressions of Interest (WEOIs) across its immigration streams. The Alberta Opportunity Stream accounted for approximately 62.3% of the total pool.
This corresponds to 22,913 WEOIs under the Alberta Opportunity Stream alone, indicating significant demand within this pathway.
Other streams reported smaller candidate pools. The Tourism and Hospitality Stream contained 3,637 WEOIs, while priority sector initiatives accounted for 4,932 candidates.
The Accelerated Tech Pathway reported 2,116 candidates in the pool, and healthcare pathways had 1,298 WEOIs combined across both entry types.
Rural Renewal Stream candidates totalled 1,808, while the Law Enforcement Pathway had 56 candidates.
Entrepreneur streams are not included in WEOI totals as they follow a separate intake and assessment process.
Applications Awaiting Processing
In addition to the candidate pool, Alberta reported 1,466 provincial nomination applications awaiting processing as of July 15.
The Alberta Opportunity Stream accounted for the largest share, with 714 applications still under review.
Other streams showed smaller processing volumes. The Accelerated Tech Pathway had 198 pending applications, while priority sector streams reported 292.
Healthcare pathways had 53 applications awaiting decisions, and the Rural Renewal Stream reported 60 pending cases.
The entrepreneur streams had 242 applications in processing, reflecting distinct timelines and procedures compared to worker streams.
