The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is Alberta's Provincial Nominee Program, previously known as AINP. The main pathway for temporary workers in Alberta is the Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS), which uses a points-based Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
To be eligible for the AOS in 2026, you must be working in Alberta on a valid temporary work permit in an eligible occupation. Your EOI score is calculated based on education, language proficiency, work experience, ties to Alberta, and your job offer details.
Alberta also offers an Express Entry Stream for candidates who are already in the federal Express Entry pool and have strong ties to Alberta. For those candidates, Alberta sends Notifications of Interest (NOI) rather than running a traditional EOI draw. Competitive AOS EOI scores in 2026 typically range from 50–75 points, though this varies by occupational demand and Alberta's annual nomination allocation.
Below typical AOS draw cutoffs. Focus on extending Alberta work experience, improving language scores, or obtaining a permanent job offer. Consider also strengthening your CRS score for the Express Entry stream.
Within range of many AOS draws. Register your EOI immediately and monitor draws. Gaining Alberta-specific experience or a rural job offer can push you above the cutoff quickly.
Highly competitive for most AAIP draws. Ensure your EOI is submitted and updated. Also check your CRS score — with a nomination you'll receive +600 federal points for PR.
A provincial nomination adds 600 points to your federal CRS score — check all your options:
